The Unnamed Hero

Although his name is lost to the history books, and he himself slipped into chaos, this brave knight slew the Pestilent Dragon of Decay, preventing the next mass extinction. The King had tasked his King’s Spear (12 valiant and unmatched knights) to defeat the Dragon, yet all inevitably perished. They received a city sized grave for their sacrifice, while the true hero was corrupted by the dark poison the dragon released upon its death. To this day, it is unknown where this knight is, or what their motive is.

A:”Don’t ya ever just, ya know, look at that statue of the Spears, and think ‘how did these pretty boys slay a dragon?’ –B:”What do you mean? Mantz was the greatest fighter in the country. He had 11 of the greatest warriors behind him. Of course they could do it.” –A:”When did we ever actually see Mantz in action? Feels like he only ever showed up for celebrations. Where was he during the Battle of Port Mandez? The whole frontline was wiped out, yet Mandez claims he was there when the fighting began.” –B:”I think you’re reading too much into it. Maybe if he survived fighting that dragon, but that’s just not what happened.” –A:”What can I say, I’m just a skeptic by nature. –B:”I will admit, I’m sure there was a lot of garnishing the story by the King. Was probably much less heroic.” -Two citizens at the central statue of the Spear’s grave
